I've never had acrylic nails, and I'm certainly thinking about getting them, but not without getting some tips and advice on the question above, and what to expect, and ask for from those the salons.Do acrylic nails last longer than natural manicured nails? Also, how sanitary are those nail salons....?
I've gotten my nails done many many times. They only last as long as you make them and what I mean by that is that your nails will grow out and so will the nail along with it, thats when you need to get a refill if you plan on sticking with them. If the nails arent done right they can break, chip, or come up on the sides and they will do that anyway but thats if you have the on for a long time and dont bother to go back and get them fixed or refilled. Most places are ran by oriental people... thats not to be taken as racist because I dont have a problem with them I'm saying that because some are hard to understand and especially when they wear one of those white mask things over their mouths, you really have to listen to what they're saying. I know some people dont go because they hear some places are unsanitary but I've never had a problem with that and I've been to like 5 different nail salons in my area. They'll probably ask if you want a square shaped tip... thats usually what most people get when they get acrylic but some get pointed too, its your choice. If you want a design on your nail make sure you tell them when you bring them the color and sometimes they'll ask anyway what color you want. It takes about 30-45mins for you to be done. They file, and buff your natural nail and sometimes clip them if they're too long... then they'll fit a artificial nail and glue it on. Then they'll ask you how long you want your nails and you just tell them and they have a nail cutter and will sometimes show you where they'll cut and you just tell them if the length is Ok. Then they'll cut them all and then buff though and use a machine to smooth them out. Then they'll put on the acrylic and once they're done that they'll buff them down and use the machine. Then once they're done they'll ask you to wash your hands at their sink and then when you come back they'll usually ask you to pay before they paint your nails and then they'll paint your nails and once they're done that they'll sit you at a dryer until your nails are dry. Yeah, you usually tip them... I tip them like $3. I've never had someone manicure my natural nails... I do them myself but I've done someone before and she said her polish doesnt last real long because of the work she does around the house or something. Honestly, I would say a regular manicure might not last as long as acrylic but acrylic can chip, break, peel up on the sides, and it grows out with your nail.Do acrylic nails last longer than natural manicured nails? acrilic do last long and u can keep them up or u can use the uv rays.but they make ur nails really sonf and sensitive wen u utake them off
No doubt about acrylic nails making hands look elegant. If kept up to maintenance levels of fill in ,the new growth every 3 weeks,it can work out expensive.
The down sides are,the nail technician will cut your nails short, then use a fairly rough nail shaper on the surface of your natural nail, taking a layer off so the acrylic will bond better.Doing this makes your nails sore and it can take days to settle down.
It can take at least an hour, but they will look great. You then have to have the regrowth filled in,later on.
For me the downside is you can get a fungus infection when they are left on too long.Your own natural nails get very thin due to the roughing of the surface. When you finally decide to take them off for good,it takes a year for them to grow strong again.Putting your hands in hot water is painful as the nails are very thin. Most salons are pretty clean, but you must remember the equipment used on you has already been used on many customers.
acylic last lnger. i dont know about the other part
acrilic nails are the way to go. manicures are great for natural nails but depending on how oily your nail beds are the polish chips way faster. The only downfall to acrilic/gel/fiberglass/silk nails are the up keep u can make a set of acrilic last u up to a year if u take care of them properly. I would avoid the so called ';chop shops'; the little places in mall etc, try finding a place that does the ';Extreme'; acrilic. the old acrilic has a product in it called mmn it is the ingredient that makes the nails stick better but it is supposed to be cancer causing . this is why your natural nails look like hell when u take them off with the extreme acrilic is mmn free and wont damage your natural nails but be careful dont let anyone buff them off as u are likely to buff into the natural nail and cause damage with acrilic sosk them off in acetone and the only damage is dryness till u put lotion on. also with any type of fake nail its like a band aid on skin it takes a day or two to get back to normal when u take it off... good luck!!
I get acrylic nails sometimes. I like them because the polish doesn't really chip and they last longer than a regular manicure, and they just look put together.
However, they are kind of high maintenance. You have to get them filled about every 2 weeks, and when you get them taken off, your natural nails look TERRIBLE. They have to file the tops and cut them really short, so they look bad if you don't get a manicure right away or have them put back on.
Some salons are nicer/cleaner than others but some of them are really nasty. Ask your friends where they get nails done.
Do acrylic for special occasions like a wedding you are attending or a gala party..
Natural last longer. The fake as nails grow will show they are
fake. So the upkeep cost money. Unless you invested on a kit yourself at home.
But also fake can destroy your own nails. You can get a nail fungus too. So becareful, cause also with fake nails depending length and you fall and the nail bends back it can also rip your own nail. That happened to a friend of mine and her nail didn't grow back until 10 years later when she decided to start filing down the meat there where the nail was.
Then she got her nail back..
I have had my finger cut from those places
i stopped going.
natural is better and last longer.
