You should trim her nails. Hamster nails keep growing, just like people nails. In the wild, when hamsters are running around on rocks and gravel, their nails naturally wear down. But when they live with people, their nails don't wear down, and need to be trimmed. Most pet stores sell special nail clippers for dogs and cats, that can also be used on hamsters. They look like a pliers, only they are nail clippers. They make them in different sizes too, so you should try to find a small one for the small hamster nails. You can also use a human nail clipper, but it might be harder. When you clip the nails though, you want to be very, very careful, because unlike our nails, hamster nails have blood vessels in them, called the quick, so if you cut them, they can bleed. You can fairly easily see the quick though, because they are in a thicker part of the nail, and they look pinker than the rest of the nail. Try to avoid that part, and just clip the thinner front part of the nail. You can also take the hamster to the vet if you don't feel comfortable cutting them yourself. The vet shouldnt charge much for that. Another thing you can do is make a sandpaper ramp to put in the hamster cage. If you glue sandpaper to a piece of wood, and put it at an angle in the cage, when the hamster tries to climb up it, it will file her nails naturally. As for the yellowness and dirtiness, I'm not sure if I can help much there. If she acts healthy, she's probably just rolling around in dirt, but if you're concerned, maybe a vet should look at her.
We have a ferret and they also grow nails long. Just go to your local pet store and buy the right clippers for your hampster. Try a different kind of bedding. We used a recyled paper for our ferrets and my grandson's hampster's cage. That seemed to cut down on the yellow tingt to the animal. The yellow tint seemed to come from wet bedding and we change daily if need to.
You can trim you Hamsters nail with regular people nail clippers. It's ok to give her a bath, just male sure to dry her good and don't let her get chilled. You might get some vitamins specifically for Hamsters that you put in the water and make sure the food you are feeding is for small rodents.
Try giving her a bath for the color and try asking someone at a pet store for the nails
its a hamster..who cares? free the critter and do it a favor.
Yellow you say? May have jaundice (a condition of the liver).
